Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt accepted undisclosed damages Thursday in London's High Court to settle a privacy claim against a British tabloid that had reported they were planning to split.

The News of the World after it reported in January that they had agreed to separate. The pair argued the newspaper had made false and intrusive allegations in saying that they had planned to divide assets worth 205 million pounds ($320 million) and had made arrangements regarding the custody of their six children.

The News of the World failed to publicly retract the allegations and apologize for them — thereby leaving their readers in the dark as to the true position — the couple felt they had no alternative than to sue," the couple's attorney, Keith Schilling, said in a statement.

Rihanna's new single album releases in November

Singer Rihanna is exposing her fans to more than her music with her new single, "Russian Roulette".

The singer is featured nearly topless on artwork for the song, covered only by what looks to be barbed wire.

The photo fits the apparent theme for her new album, "Rated R," which is due out Nov. 23. It will be her first CD since 2007's "Good Girl Gone Bad," which went multiplatinum.

I will also be her first solo single since she was attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

"Russian Roulette" will debut Tuesday on Rihanna's Web site.

Natalie Coughlin won't be going for the gold

American swimmer Natalie Coughlin scored Olympic gold, but She won't be going for the gold on "Dancing with the Stars." The superstar swimmer is the latest celeb to be tossed from the pool of dancers.

Australian star Nicole Kidman's movies could contribute to violence against women

Australian movie star Nicole Kidman concedes that some movies probably have contributed to violence against women by showing them as weak sex objects. But, Kidman says those are demeaning roles she's not interested in taking.

And, she says the movie industry has made an effort to contribute to solutions for ending the violence.
Kidman testified before a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that's considering legislation to deal with violence against women overseas. When asked by Congressman Dana Rohrabacher of Orange County, California, if the movie industry has "played a bad role," Kidman said "probably." But, she quickly added that she herself doesn't. She said she "can't be responsible for all of Hollywood" but she "can certainly be responsible" for her own career.
Nicole Kidman is a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women, known as UNIFEM, to promote the International Violence Against Women Act.

Lady Gaga will dress "monster" at upcoming concerts

American recording artist Lady Gaga will dress as a ''monster'' for her upcoming 'Monster Ball' tour which starts next month.
The 'Paparazzi' singer is about to embark on her 'Monster Ball' tour next month and the flamboyant pop star - famed for her outrageous outfits - is going to take her fashion inspiration from the title.

Lady Gaga told Rolling Stone magazine: "The fashion is going to be another exploration and another level from where we were with the previous tour, the 'Fame Ball'. The theme of monsters is certainly going to be an influence, as well as the theme of evolution and change. It's going to be a truly artistic experience that is going to take the form of the greatest post-apocalyptic house party that you've ever been to."

Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - was due to hit the road with Kanye West.

However, the tour - entitled 'Fame Kills', and which had been planned for months - was cancelled earlier this month, just weeks after Kanye was heavily criticised for invading the stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

But the 23-year-old singer hasn't ruled out the possibility of touring with him in the future.

Lady Gaga said: "It just wasn't the right timing. I don't want to embellish on it too much, because I want to respect Kanye's privacy. But we just had our own reasons. We're real friends, real friends can make decisions like that, and we wanted to keep the momentum going in terms of pop music staying innovative with hip-hop and R'n'B. But who's to say what will happen in the future?"

Julia:Twilight star Julia Jones's interview with Lime Life

Leah Clearwater's Julia Jones opens up on her "really good job," new opportunities and - yes! - working with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Here we kick off a highly-coveted two-week series where she shares the shocking story behind landing the part of Leah, the ways your life transforms when you've starred in the biggest film franchise in the world, and the inside truth about Twilight cast relationships.

Interview Highlights:

LimeLife: Julia, you've just played this amazing role in Eclipse and we can't wait to hear about it. First though, can you tell us from where else we might know you?

Julia Jones: Probably the most notable thing was that I did a recurring role on ER. I appeared in their final season [as Dr. Kaya Montoya], so it was pretty cool to be a part of something that great and large as it was closing. Everybody was appreciating it, so it was a good time to be involved.

LimeLife: We heard that there were open casting calls for Eclipse. How exactly did you score the part of Leah Clearwater?

Julia Jones: The casting director I've had a relationship with for a number of years. She actually just called us up and I went in and auditioned for the director David Slade and for her, and came back about a week later and read for some people from Summit and David again and some of the producers. And then I waited for about a month before I heard anything, and you're right, in that time they were doing huge casting calls and going up to Canada. I think they accepted tapes from anybody so really anyone in the world could put themselves on tape and potentially be seen by the casting people.

LimeLife: Okay, so basically you were tapped on the shoulder to audition for the biggest cinema craze of our time. What kind of relationship did you have with the Twilight series at that time?

Julia Jones: It's interesting because I hadn't read any of the books before I got the audition. I of course was aware of it, I have good friends who have been - I think "obsessed" is the right word - for quite some time. (Laughs.) Then when I got the call for the audition, I actually had a very serious visceral reaction. My heart started beating fast, it's a very unusual thing but I think on some level I think I sort of felt like I knew that this was going to be something important and probably life-changing.

Robert Pattinson:The Twilight Saga,David Letterman,The New Moon

Kristen Stewart’s gloominess may be the biggest, but it’s far from the only, problem with “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” the hugely anticipated second chapter in the series. There’s the music, which threatens to suffocate you in its maudlin grasp within the film’s first five minutes. Toss in dialogue so wooden it could float, a bloated 130 minute running time, and you have a languid, campy affair that would seem right at home on a Saturday night airing on the Disney Channel.

Director Chris Weitz, hired to replace Catherine Hardwicke, seems as confounded by the material as his predecessor. The movie often feels more padded than the Joker's cell at Arkham. Weitz even fumbles a product placement bit early on.

From the start in this movie, Bella and Edward’s star-crossed romance is on the ropes. A paper cut at Bella’s 18th birthday party convinces Edward (Robert Pattinson) his supernatural world is no place for the girl he loves, so he breaks up with her and leaves Forks with the rest of his family.

Bella, desperate to become part of Edward’s world in blood and spirit, is crushed. Her depression spiral has all the usual trimmings, from the absent glare to the isolation from her friends, even a brooding alt-rock soundtrack. She then decides to embrace her inner X-Games contestant, knowing she can summon Edward’s spirit by risking her life dirt biking and cliff diving.

And Edward does show up, constantly. Considering Pattinson’s huge appeal, the decision to have him show up in ghostly fashion so he wouldn’t disappear for an hour makes marketing sense. But Weitz executes Edward’s apparitional appearances in such clumsy fashion, they evoked steady laughter from the audience at the screening I attended.

Edward’s disappearance allows Bella to reconnect with her childhood friend from the Quileute tribe, Jacob (Taylor Lautner). He helps her rebuild a motorcycle and more important, gets her to snap out of her love funk. Jacob also wants Bella for himself, but she’s not ready yet.

Jacob struggles with being the ‘rebound guy’ – not to mention ridiculous hair extensions – and it doesn’t help his mood that he has a secret of his own.

At first, Bella thinks Jacob’s new friends are trouble. And the fact that they always run around shirtless and in jean shorts is a bit unsettling. Soon, however, she learns the truth. Jacob and his buddies are werewolves, guarding against their natural enemies, vampires.

An interesting subplot with The Volturi, the aristocracy of the vampire world, adds some excitement to the mix. A distraught Edward turns to them as a way to end his tortured existence, setting up the film’s climax.

Sandwiched in between “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” and the upcoming “Tron Legacy,” Michael Sheen continues to build his Comic-Con cred as Aro, the head of the Volturi.

The scenes at the Volturi stronghold in Italy are the high point of the picture, and it would have been nicer to delve deeper into that corridor of the Twilight mythology. And it should be noted that the wolf transformations illustrated a marked improvement in CGI work over the first movie.

But the focus is squarely on the love triangle at the root of this story. And truth be told, it has the potential for intriguing drama, especially with the supernatural werewolves vs. vampires setting.

Robert Pattinson revisits the brooding man bit that earned him the worship of millions of women young and uncomfortably old the first time around. He struts through his scenes here like a vampiric Chuck Bass traversing the VIP rooms of Manhattan’s nightlife scene.

Lautner actually spends more time onscreen with Stewart than his more-photographed co-star. But there is zero chemistry between the two, and while he obviously spent many hours in the gym, his acting muscles aren’t developed enough to overcome the stilted dialogue.

Besides, Team Jacob never stands a chance anyway. It’s all about Edward/Bella. Weitz goes all-in with the Romeo and Juliet comparisons. In case you don’t notice the copy of Shakespeare’s tale Bella goes to bed with, there’s the English class discussion of the story to sledgehammer the point home.

It all rings false. Why? Because the actors don’t seem to believe what they’re saying any more than the audience buys what they’re selling. And when the actors in a movie about young vampire love and lurking werewolves aren’t fully invested in the material...well, then you’re only a few years away from midnight audience participation showings at the Sunshine.

And saying ‘it’s in the books’ doesn’t cut it. An adaptation of a novel should be able to stand on its own, without forcing people (like this writer) to read the books to fill in the blanks.

Love and romance doesn’t have to be as hard as Edward and Bella make it out to be. It could, and should actually, be...wait for it...fun. Instead, “New Moon” shows us a love pairing that gives Ryan Atwood and Marissa Cooper a run for their melancholia.

Rock singer Robert Plant takes his `Band of Joy' on the road

"When you're working with Robert you can only rehearse so much and then it doesn't matter anymore because you have to have your eyes glued on him the entire night," guitarist Buddy Miller said in an interview with his tour bandmate, singer-songwriter and guitarist Patty Griffin. "No matter what the arrangement was, he's just all feel."Plant might give a nod or a vocal cue and the band heads off in an unexpected direction. That might be the unifying theme for Plant's latest project, which he calls "an adventure.

His aim for Zeppelin songs like "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Houses of the Holy" is to make them feel like they are "crawling out of the swamp, not coming out of the bordello." "Even the old songs are brand-new," Plant said. "There's nothing being reproduced that's ever been heard the way it's being played now ... it's all different. So we've got a hotbed of about 22 songs, which will grow and grow.

The concerts featured a song each for Miller and Griffin, and Plant has plans to include more songs by the band, which also includes multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, bassist Byron House and drummer Marco Giovino. He wants a revue feel for the tour, his first headlining performances since the "Raising Sand" tour wrapped 15 months ago."I can feel it without a word spoken and we sing together like crazy," he said. "It's like a rockin' thing. It's like the Andrews Sisters on acid, you know. It's really great — revelatory really. She let's fly. She really lets it go."

Watch New Moon: Kristen Stewart's Money Dilemma

A-listers such as Cate Blanchett, Daniel Craig, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson, Jude Law, Madonna, Demi Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Naomi Watts, bring smaller, specialized projects to the Cinema Society.

"Please keep details of the evening completely confidential beforehand," mentioned the Luxist invite. The secret location: The boutique Crosby Street Hotel in SoHo, which boasts a well-appointed but discreet screening room at basement level.

On the red carpet, Kristen Stewart wore RM by Roland Mouret, a short dress with swirls of large paillettes and spiky, 4-inch Louboutins. Her hair was newly colored brunette for her role in "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac.

During the screening, Luxist was seated next to Abigail Breslin and her mother. Other notables included Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, fashionista Rachel Zoe, and supermodels Dree Hemingway and Maggie Rizer.

That said, Luxist gives high marks to the food at the Crosby Street Hotel afterfete: beef sliders, chicken curry, crab cakes, squash, and goat cheese risotto. "Eclipse" fete food: Two thumbs way up.

Singer Jennifer Lopez cancels north Cyprus show

Singer Jennifer Lopez has put the kibosh on a show in the Turkish-controlled north of Cyprus. The performance came under fire from Greek Cypriots, who started an online campaign calling for the gig to be canceled.

"After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of her advisors to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

Lopez, her husband singer Marc Anthony and their two children were due to stay at the Cratos Premium Hotel, located in a region where thousands of Greek Cypriots were displaced from in 1974. She was booked to perform there on July 24.

Apparently, as Beyoncé may have learned after playing a little New Year's Eve gig in St. Barth's for a son of Moammar Kadafi, not every multimillion-dollar paycheck is worth it the hassle.

Prepares for Take Off Bloodhound SuperSonic Car

British scientists and engineers has created a full-scale model for a car they intend to drive more than 1,000 mph.The model, aptly named the Bloodhound SuperSonic Car (SSC), was built by a team of aerodynamic experts, who took three years to build it.

Recently shown off to the world at the Farnborough International Air Show, the 42-foot-long Bloodhound resembles a bright blue missile with wheels.

Apparently, another deal to create the front end of the car is close to being finalized. Not surprisingly, news that there may soon exist a car capable of hitting four digits on the speedometer moved the search needle. Immediately, online lookups for "bloodhound car," "supersonic car," and "bloodhound car pictures" roared into breakout status.

The current record belongs to the Thrust SuperSonic Car, which hit 763 mph back in 1997.Incidentally, several of the key people involved in the Thrust vehicle also worked on the Bloodhound, including driver Andy Green (who is also a Fighter Pilot in the Royal Air Force). Here, Mr. Green discusses some of the car's impressive/terrifying capabilities. One factoid to whet your appetite: The Bloodhound has a grand total of 135,000 horsepower, which is equal to 180 times the power of a formula one car. Buckle up.

Tiger Woods: Tiger Woods Mistress Rachel Uchitel Checks Into Rehab

We reported late last week that Donald Trump was pursuing Tiger Woods' former mistress Rachel Uchitel to appear on the next season of Celebrity Apprentice...but Uchitel's taking another stab at the fame game by checking into rehab, according to latest reports. Here's the sitch.

Us is summing it up, in addition to Uchitel's life-wrecking fling with Tiger Woods: "Uchitel was the first woman to be romantically linked to Woods. She later admitted having a 'romantic relationship' with another married man, Bones star David Boreanaz.

But after leaked text messages between the two hit the Web, [Uchitel] issued a statement saying that the messages portrayed her in a false light (Boreanaz actually led her on, she said) and that she never 'wanted to break up his family.

Meanwhile as Rachel Uchitel's summer in the Hamptons nears its second half, it's clear Uchitel is trying to line up work for the fall.

In an attempt for a TV gig, it's said that Uchitel is in talks with Donald Trump to join next season's Celebrity Apprentice...but we doubt NBC will go for such bad-taste casting because most viewers would run away from the TV.

Meanwhile Tila Tequila's been booted from Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew -- so is VH1 courting Rachel Uchitel to take her place? Yep -- we have the report here. Rachel Uchitel's not addicted to love. She's addicted to attention (and probably also Juvederm).

Chelsea Clinton and Bill are nervous wrecks, Hillary Clinton says of daughter Chelsea's upcoming wedding

Clinton stuck to her pledge not to reveal wedding details."My lips are sealed," she said, adding, "I am under very strict orders not to talk about," since it is a private matter.

"Over the years, so many of the barriers that prevented people from getting married, crossing lines of faith or color or ethnicity have just disappeared," she said.

"Because what's important is: 'Are you making a responsible decision? Have you thought it through? Do you understand the consequences?' And I think in the world that we're in today we need more of that."

Charice gets Botox for 'Glee' debut

Singer Charice Pempengco says she prepared for her debut on the hit TV show "Glee" by getting Botox and an anti-aging procedure "to look fresh on camera."The 18-year-old Charice, whose singing career rocketed after appearing on Ellen DeGeneres' and Oprah Winfrey's talk shows, underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening procedure and Botox to make her "naturally round face" more narrow, celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo told ABS-CBN television.

"All people will be anticipating how will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry? So of course there is tremendous pressure," Charice said. Berry is portrayed by Lea Michele, who is 23.In an earlier TV interview, Charice said she auditioned for "Glee" in mid-June in Los Angeles and was thankful to have been accepted.

For Myrna Lumanao, a 23-year-old seller in a doughnut stall, looking natural is better. "I guess she can afford to have those procedures done because she has the money, but I wish she did not change her looks."Dr. Malcolm Roth, president of New York's Society of Plastic Surgeons and director of plastic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in New York said he wasn't sure how someone so young could benefit from Botox.

Born Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco and raised with her brother by a single mother, she sang in local contests and appeared on TV talent shows in the Philippines and South Korea before she got a big break on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" at age 15.She later appeared several times on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" and credits Winfrey for helping push her career.

Canadian actor Michael Cera Talks About the Ladies in Playboy

Canadian actor Michael Cera's a surprising guy, and ladies love him. But how often do they really fling themselves at him, and what does he look for in a woman? This is why something like Playboy's 20 Questions exists, so we can get as much random info as we can about one celeb.

"Yes [I do], but they're hard to find. For example, when I go out to a restaurant I know every girl in there wants to come say hi and be sexually aggressive, but they're all so gripped by shyness that they don't even make a move. In some cases the shyness is so severe they won't even look at me."

The rest of the interview focused interesting stuff like Cera losing his virginity, his newest films, and his current girlfriend. Weird, tongue-in-cheek stuff that makes Playboy worth reading. Check out clips here at PopEater and the full-length piece here.

In the 32-page book, you'll find illustrations of Justin, along with his life story from childhood to now (which, ahem, is still childhood).

But Tara believes Justin Bieber has "staying power," which is obviously why she was chosen as the next comic book star. She says, "He is a talented young musician. He has such an enormous global fan base... That and his talent will probably give him some real staying power in the industry. I listened to Bieber's music for the first time while working on this project, and I have to admit, it can really stick with you."

It's a huge honor for Justin Bieber to get a comic book, right up there with the big Twilight stars. Will you be purchasing a copy? It will be available in November for $3.99 at comic book stores and Amazon.com.

Inception 2010: "Inception" leads box office, "Apprentice" flops

The costly sci-fi thriller opened at No. 1 at the weekend box office in North America on Sunday, pulling in $60.4 million from moviegoers happy to be vexed by one of the few big original pictures of the summer, according to estimates issued by distributor Warner Bros. Pictures.

The weekend's other big new release failed to whip up any magic amid poor reviews. Nicolas Cage's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" bombed at No. 3 with just $17.4 million in weekend ticket sales.Last weekend's champion, the family cartoon "Despicable Me," slipped to No. 2 with $32.7 million.

Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc., partnered on the $160 million project with studio-based financier Legendary Pictures, and they spent more than $100 million on the marketing. Pundits had forecast an opening in the $50 million to $60 million range.

Critics heaped praise on "Inception," even if many of them were not exactly sure what it was about, or advised that it might require multiple viewings. In a caustic review, the Wall Street Journal suggested the film was "impervious to criticism, simply because no one short of a NASA systems analyst will be able to articulate the plot."

"It's a smart film, and if you're a smart person you've got to put on your seat belt and enjoy the ride," said Dan Fellman, the studio's president of domestic distribution. He predicted the film would hit $300 million in sales in North America. The biggest release of the year so far is "Toy Story 3" with $363 million.

After getting a two-day head start by opening on Wednesday, the film has earned $24.5 million to date. Pundits had forecast a $30 million haul for the first five days."There's no question we're disappointed in the result," said Chuck Viane, Disney's president of domestic theatrical distribution.

"Despicable Me" has earned $118.4 million in North America after 10 days, said distributor Universal Pictures, a unit of General Electric Co.. Its foreign total rose to $11.3 million from seven markets; Russia has contributed $7.2 million to sales in 11 days.

Is kangana ranaut undervalued in Bollywood?

Mumbay-Having directed her in upcoming gangster film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai', Milan Luthria can't stop raving about Kangana Ranaut's acting skills and says she is yet to have her moment of glory in Bollywood.

"She brings a lot of sensuality and glamour to the screen. She carries off even skimpy outfits and different kind of looks.

She is someone who has the body and the face to carry that," he added.

Luthria had words of praise for Emraan Hashmi as well and said both of them were similar in some ways.

"That's what has given them a very commercial connect with the audience. They are like underdogs and do things that others don't," the director added.

Actress Lucille Ball letters, awards to be sold at auction

LOS ANGELES – Some of Lucille Ball's love letters and awards will be sold at auction after a judge ruled to block the sale but imposed a hurdle that the comedienne's daughter cannot overcome.

"We won on a legal basis, and the judge took it away from us on an economic basis," Palmieri said. "That is very sad." Luckinbill is the daughter of Ball and first husband Desi Arnaz. She sought the return of some of the items after Susie Morton, the widow of Ball's second husband, Gary Morton, offered them for sale.

Morton sued Luckinbill this week, seeking a judge's order allowing the sale to go forward. Luckinbill in turn sought the restraining order Friday.Through Palmieri, she had sought the return of the love letters and Ball's lifetime achievement awards, which she said would be donated to a museum honoring her mother.

Susie Morton's lawsuit claimed that Luckinbill had forfeited her right to the items after her mother's estate was distributed.

British Open: Drama finds Daly — again — at British Open

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – Playing in wind gusting so hard it was tough to keep a cigarette lit, John Daly made another big move on the British Open leaderboard Friday — backward. A day after matching his best round at the British, golf's favorite sideshow stormed off the Old Course after shooting a 4-over 76.

Daly is perhaps golf's most colorful figure — and it's not because of those garish pants he sports. (He broke out the hot pink paisley for the second round, pairing them with a lime green cap and a shirt that was just a shade quieter. Not to be outdone, his girlfriend wore leggings that matched his pants.)

But his nickname was "Wild Thing," and he did his best to live up to it. He has four ex-wives, and he ate, drank and gambled to excess. He's been suspended by the PGA Tour five times, and fined $100,000.At 44, the toll of his hard living etched on his face, even Daly seems to have had enough of his high-wire act. He's lost almost 100 pounds since having Lap-Band surgery in February 2009, and said he quit drinking. He's working on his game again now that rib and back injuries have healed.

Not even Daly's booming shots could overcome wind that forced a one-hour weather delay because of gusts of 41 mph. After making just one bogey in the first round, he had two before he made the turn Friday. He made another two before getting his first birdie, on the par-5 14th, and then bogeyed No. 17. He drove into a valley just off the left side of the 18th green, and ran it within 5 feet for what looked like a gimme birdie to salvage the rough day.The ball slid along the side of the cup and refused to drop, though, forcing Daly to settle for par. He shook hands with his playing partners and then hustled away, not even giving Open media officials an opportunity to ask if he'd talk.

Turning Sarah Palin, Tiger Woods Into Cold Hard Cash

For the better part of the last year, bloggers have frantically attempted to wring every possible cent from keyword-rich stories covering Sarah Palin, Tiger woods (see above headline for proof), and a dozen other celebrity names coveted like gold in The Often Trifling Age of Pageview Journalism. It’s become a weekly, if not daily, ritual.

This notion — the delicate relationship between art and commerce — struck me while reading a brief about artist Jonathan Yeo’s latest exhibition, “Porn in the U.S.A,” which opened at Lazarides Gallery in Los Angeles last Thursday. While the title is suggestive, and a semi-clever pun (two things that definitely don’t fly for journalism in the days of search engine optimization), it’s also intended to stoke controversy — like all of his work.

He’s probably best known for his porntrait portrait of Paris Hilton (complete with penis thumb… NSFW) from his debut show at Lazarides in 2008, a piece that was famously purchased by Damien Hirst. The name recognition of Yeo’s subjects, and the attention he draws by using porn as his medium, feels a bit like artworld hucksterism.

That last thing that Yeo says, the notion that a percentage of those who view his work will be uninformed gawkers attracted by the mere sight of a large crowd, is telling. His porn and celebrity sales pitch are far from unheard of. In fact, the two topics are tried and true public attention grabbers. Yeo’s particular choice to cast Palin in porn is a not-so-subtle exploitation of her often sexually-charged image. Just as his decision is to give Tiger Woods the same treatment (NSFW: View here).

It begs the question, how much interest in art these days — whether visual art, music, writing, etc. — is driven by hype? And how often does the art itself live up to the expectation of how it was marketed or sold? Back in the pre-Internet world, consumers would cry fowl of such disregard for quality control, claiming bait-and-switch tactics when disappointed by the end product. But today things are different for some reason. Perhaps expectations are at an all-time low, or maybe most of us have just stopped caring.

Austrian Life Ball: Storm cuts short start of Austrian Life Ball

VIENNA – Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and others ran for cover as the opening of a flashy Austrian AIDS gala was cut short by a fierce thunderstorm.Appearances by Clinton, burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese and Patti LaBelle had to be skipped after authorities issued a weather warning and ordered the packed square in front of Vienna's city hall to be cleared Saturday night.

Take Hans Peter Aigner, a 44-year-old from Innsbruck, whose outfit consisted of white and blue body paint, black patent leather plateau boots and tiny white hot pants."This is my twelfth Life Ball — We're never going to miss another one," he said, motioning to a group of friends in similarly sparse attire.

"It's just a shame for those who can't be here — this is great," said 30-year-old Maha Elaser as she and a friend — both dressed in strategically placed fake leaves, among other things — enjoyed a drink under an awning in the courtyard as live music acts performed throughout the building. This year's bash served as a prelude to an international AIDS conference that kicks off in Vienna Sunday and is expected to draw thousands of policymakers, activists and experts.

American actress Angelina Jolie relishes spy role, but only in fiction

Angelina Jolie said "I couldn't keep a secret life because it is just not natural to me and my family, but I think is a great sacrifice people make," the actress said in an interview with AFP ahead of the release of the spy thriller "Salt," in which she stars.

Jolie, a 35-year-old mother of six and UN goodwill ambassador for refugees, said the public understands spy films are fiction despite the recent high-profile case involving a dozen so-called Russian sleeper agents.

"In reality it is entertainment even though is based on things that are possible. I think we didn't focus on the politics as much as the people and their personalities."For her role, Jolie consulted with a real spy, Mellisa Boyle Mahle, a former US intelligence officer and an expert on the Middle East and counterterrorism.

Jolie also told AFP she would welcome another film with her partner and Hollywood star Brad Pitt, with whom she co-starred in the action flick "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." "Of course, of course," she said when asked about playing opposite Pitt again, but said the film would have to be carefully chosen.

Jolie adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia, daughter Zahara from Ethiopia, and her son Pax Thien from Vietnam. Her biological daughter Shiloh was born in Namibia and her twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline were born in France.

"I don't know if I'll ever be as good as she is, she's so brilliant," Jolie said. "She is the one we all try to be as good as, but none of us will ever be as good as Meryl."

Hilton, who was transiting the French Mediterranean island in a private jet on Friday, was hauled in for questioning and released about 30 minutes later, the report said.

In a posting on the TwitLonger site Saturday, Hilton wrote,Just to put an end to these rumors. The stories saying I have been arrested are completely false! "I am having the best vacation of my life," the posting said.
