Late maternal grandmother Shobhna Samarth and great grandmother Rattan Bai had both been influential figures in the early stages of Hindi cinema. Her paternal uncles are film producers; Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee. Kajol's paternal grandfather, Sashadhar Mukherjee, was a filmmaker. His wife Satirani Devi, Kajol's paternal grandmother, was the sister of three famous film personalities, Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Kajol's cousins Rani Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherjee and Mohnish Behl are also Bollywood actors whereas her cousin Ayaan Mukerjee is a director. Kajol's younger sister Tanisha Mukherjee is also an actress. With such a strong lineage in Bollywood this girl was sure to make heads turn.Kajol turns a year older on Thursday (August 5). Her folks have planned the traditional dhole ceremony to coincide with the actress' birthday. The Maharashtrian ceremony, (the equivalent of a godh bharai ceremony), is conducted to mark the seventh month of a woman's pregnancy. Her mom Tanuja and sister Tanishaa felt it was apt to have a double celebration on the day.The ceremony will be followed by a traditional lunch with only family members in attendance. As Tanuja is a Maharashtrian, both the sisters follow a lot of the customs.
A bitchy actress chirped to say that Kajol has been calling Ajay Devgn 'Gangsta' after watching him in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai.But Arjun Rampal who has just got a new dog is also calling his pooch Gangsta.Bow wow! This Thursday will mark Kajol’s birthday and while there will be a big bash to bring in her special day, the family has also decided they will celebrate her godh bharai too. In true Maharashtrian style, the family will observe the necessary ceremonies as well as her birthday. This will be followed by a family lunch for the Mukherjees and Devgns together.
